Who Are We?
FHC is a group of about 25 families who meet for classes once each week throughout the school year. Our classes are held at a church in Snohomish. Our community works hard to encourage and serve alongside one another as we each walk through our own individual homeschooling journeys. Our classes are parent-taught and extra-curricular in nature.
Weekly Meet Up
We meet on Thursdays from 10am-1pm. After our morning assembly, students and parents split off into various parent lead classes based on age. Some examples of past classes that parents have taught include Forensic Science, Kitchen Chemistry, Homesteading, Building A Community, Reading Readiness, Lego Engineering, Backyard Ballistics, Logic & Reasoning, Exploring Cultures through Picture Books, and more.
Parent Participation:
We are a parent-led co-op. This means that your active participation is required to be a member. Without all of us working together and serving alongside one another the co-op would not function. We are always extremely encouraged to see the gifts that our parents bring to the community. We want to work with you to make sure you are comfortable and prepared to serve! Every parent at FHC is required to work in a classroom during the FHC school day, as a lead teacher, or co-teacher. We also ask that parents serve the community in some other role outside of classroom time, such as clean-up crew, event coordinator, blessing team, treasurer, and more. We understand that each parent has a unique skill set that enables them to do different jobs well. Some parents may hate the idea of coordinating events while others really would rather not stay after classes vacuuming and washing tables. We have multiple roles available for you to choose from and will work hard to help you get comfortably set up into one of them.
Is Freedom Cooperative a Christian co-op?
It is important to us that every person who enrolls in FHC understand that our belief in Jesus Christ informs what we do. As the leadership plans for our co-op year we always keep the truth of God's Word at the center. During the school year, we begin each morning at FHC with prayer and music and end our day in prayer before heading out. And while classes are generally more educational in nature, Biblical elements have been and may be included in some classes. However, we aim to be open to families from all backgrounds and do not require that you be a Christian to join us. We do ask that all of our members sign our statement of faith agreeing to not teach or promote anything contrary to it during Community Days or while representing FHC.
Does the community meet outside of Community Day?
At FHC we value building community and furthering our children's educational opportunities. In order to accomplish these goals we have built a few events into our yearly calendar. These events include S.T.E.A.M fair, History and Culture Fair, Family Olympics, and Field Day. We also meet for field trips and mom nights throughout the year and build fun into our community days with themed dress up days and guest speakers.
How do I join?
FHC has limited openings each fall that we begin filling in the spring. If you would like more information, and would like to get on our wait list, please reach out through our contact page. Once you are on the list we will reach out with any openings or to invite you to one of our information nights.
